In 2023 I had the honor of creating two murals in La Vall d’Alcalà – one in Alcalà de la Jovada visible from the entrance road to the village, and the other in the main square of Beniaia – with the aim of recovering and extolling the memory of the historical warlord Al-Azraq, symbol of the resistance and legacy of the area.

The paintings represent Al-Azraq in a powerful posture, with vibrant colors and a striking presence, filling the walls with nature, history and local culture. The project is part of the City Council of La Vall d’Alcalà’s commitment to urban art and to integrate contemporary muralism in public spaces, to strengthen the identity of the territory and connect the community with its roots.

I used my usual technique: a combination of plastic paint (brushes and rollers) together with aerosol for the final details, which allows me to achieve a modern figurative style, with textures and nuances typical of large format mural art. With this I sought to give life to gray walls, transforming them into works full of meaning, history and emotion.

These murals are not just images: they are an invitation to remember the history of the Marina Alta, to value its heritage and to relive the legend of Al-Azraq, adapted to the present time through public art. It is a mural with historical significance and local urban art, designed for neighbors and visitors to rediscover what defines La Vall d’Alcalà.

This project reinforces my line of work: to create murals that unite history, nature and Mediterranean landscape, integrating tradition and contemporaneity, and giving value to villages and corners of the territory with accessible and evocative art.
