Mediterranean nature mural in Senija by Tardor

In 2025 I had the honor of participating in a new edition of the Museu Obert de Senija (MOS), painting a mural dedicated to Mediterranean nature and respect for the natural environment. This artistic intervention, located on one of the facades of the town center of Senija (Alicante), is part of the collection of outdoor public art that turns the town into a real urban museum. The Mirall de La Marina

The mural depicts a large-format female figure integrated with elements of the native flora -leaves, plants and flowers- that characterize the natural landscape of the Marina Alta. The work is conceived as a tribute to nature and its preservation, inviting viewers to reflect on the value of what surrounds us and the need to take care of it for future generations. El Mirall de La Marina

The concept of the mural: nature, calm and harmony

My goal in creating this mural was for the work to dialogue with the urban environment and, at the same time, with Senija’s own natural landscape. To achieve this, I used a color palette that combines earthy tones and intense greens, integrating these shades with the traditional architecture of the village and directly evoking the Mediterranean vegetation. The Mirall de La Marina

The presence of a human figure in the center of the mural with green eyes provides a gaze that observes and cares for the environment, symbolizing the connection between people and nature. This gaze becomes a meeting point between the viewer and the natural world, and at the same time reinforces the message that we are also part of that environment. El Mirall de La Marina

The mural is part of the MOS, a cultural project that has consolidated Senija as a benchmark of urban art in the Marina Alta, inviting locals and visitors to walk the streets and discover works that stand out for their creativity, technique and meaning. Denia Digital

Urban art as a tool to connect with the environment

This mural in Senija tries to convey more than just an image: it aims to create an emotional bond between the community and its environment. The representation of indigenous elements and the integration of the human figure with nature reinforce values such as respect for the environment, preservation of biodiversity and ecological awareness.

Public works of this type are a powerful way to communicate important messages in everyday spaces, transforming simple walls into platforms for reflection and visual beauty. Turning the façade into a mural that honors local flora not only brings color and dynamism to the city, but also:

  • It inspires pedestrians and neighbors to appreciate their natural surroundings.

  • Promotes the love for the Mediterranean nature and its species.

  • Promotes professional urban art as a tool for cultural development.

  • Reinforces the value of public spaces as cultural meeting places. El Mirall de La Marina

A work like this can transcend beyond its local context, inspiring other municipalities and communities to strengthen their identity through artistic interventions that connect with the environment and the values that define them.

Senija and the MOS: a growing open-air museum

The Museu Obert de Senija (MOS) initiative has turned the municipality into a cultural destination that fuses urban art with the urban and natural environment, offering locals and visitors a unique experience that combines mural painting, history, landscape and culture. Denia Digital

Murals like the one in this project add to an increasingly diverse and enriching collection, consolidating Senija as a public art reference and an example of how urban art can boost the identity and cultural value of a community.Denia Digital
