Mural “Un poble, moltes mirades” in Benitatxell – Urban art to celebrate diversity and coexistence

In 2025 I carried out a new mural in El Poble Nou de Benitatxell (Alicante), an intervention designed to represent and honor the cultural and human diversity of the municipality. The project arose as an initiative of the departments of Equality and Culture, with the aim of making visible the plurality of the town and strengthen the values of coexistence, respect and integration.

The mural, made on a side facade of the Social Center, the School of Music and the School for Adults of the municipality -a space of high pedestrian traffic- becomes an artistic symbol of inclusion and community. Under the slogan “Un poble, moltes mirades. La diversitat ens fa únics” (“One people, many looks. Diversity makes us unique “), the intervention depicts fragmented faces, united by a design that mixes black and white lines with stripes and areas in color, representing the union of different identities that coexist in the same place.

🎨 Artistic concept and message of the mural.

The design of the mural is composed of five fragments of different faces that, combined, form a single image. This fragmentation represents the variety of origins, cultures and realities present in Benitatxell. The black and white stripes symbolize the common, the shared; while the colored areas bring life, diversity and visual freshness – a duality that represents the coexistence of differences.

The result is a work loaded with symbolism: a tribute to multiculturalism, a reflection of the contemporary community and a clear message of respect, acceptance and equality. The mural is not just urban decoration: it is a powerful act of collective identity, a call for understanding, and a visible symbol that diversity is a richness.

Thanks to this intervention, the façade of the Social Center ceases to be just another wall to become an emblematic space, full of color, meaning and visibility. In addition, being located in a busy pedestrian area, the mural acts as a letter of introduction to the municipality: a visual stimulus for neighbors, visitors and tourists, who can immediately recognize the plural and welcoming character of Benitatxell.

🏛️ Urban art, inclusion and community – Why does this type of project work?

This mural demonstrates how professional urban art can be a transformative tool for municipalities, social centers and public spaces that seek to promote values of coexistence, diversity and identity. Through the mural is achieved:

  • To make diverse realities, multiple origins and tolerance visible.

  • To build collective identity, reinforcing the sense of belonging to a plural community.

  • Beautify public spaces and bring them back to life, color and attractiveness.

  • Turn unobtrusive facades into points of cultural attraction.

  • To offer a form of visual communication that transcends languages: art as a universal language.

As an artist, I specialize in such social impact projects, with sensitivity, respect and creativity – adapting the style, scale and message of the work to the history, population and identity of the place.

🌍 Amplia tu mirada: Murals for municipalities, city councils and social projects in Spain and Europe.

Although this mural is located in the Marina Alta, my intention is to offer my services to municipalities, town halls, cultural centers, collectives and organizations throughout Spain and beyond. The values it represents -diversity, inclusion, coexistence- are universal, and a mural like this can be perfectly adapted to urban, rural or international contexts.

I work with administrations, associations, cultural centers, social projects and public or private entities. I can design customized interventions that:

  • Visibilize the cultural and social diversity of a municipality.

  • Promote equality, inclusion or collective memory campaigns.

  • Transform facades of social centers, public buildings, parks or squares into spaces with identity.

  • Create a visual symbol of community and belonging.

My style combines technique, narrative and symbolism, and is designed to adapt to each context, respecting its history, environment and population.
