In the Plaça del Cinema in La Xara (Alicante) I made one of my most representative murals, a work that pays tribute to the origins of cinema and combines classic references with contemporary visual elements to connect with audiences of all ages. This project was created in 2016 and remains an emblematic point of the town, integrating mural art, film culture and modern aesthetics in the same urban space.
The mural is composed of three main elements.
On the one hand, the reinterpretation of the mythical frame of the classic silent film in which a rocket hits the eye of the moon, one of the most recognizable images of pioneering fantasy cinema. Its black and white finish and cartoonish expression add drama, visual strength and a clear allusion to cinema as a universal language.
At the opposite end is a portrait of the famous character played by a famous silent film comedian, one of the most influential icons in the history of cinema. His face, also in grayscale, contrasts with the background full of color and movement, creating a dialogue between past and present, between classic and contemporary.
In the center of the mural is the “Plaça del Cinema” sign , designed with a typography inspired by modern and dynamic styles reminiscent of current animated series. This more youthful and colorful touch seeks to connect with new generations, make the mural more accessible and bring energy to the public space. The composition is completed with a vibrant landscape in shades of green, purple and orange, with small houses, mountains and palm trees in an illustrated style that bring a universe of their own to the mural.
